Women represent 51% of the US population. Yet, women make up less than a third of the nation’s science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)* workforce.
We’re on a mission to level the playing field and build a diverse talent pipeline of young women in STEM+.
* Use of the “+” symbol with the acronym (i.e., STEM+) denotes any new disciplines or approaches integrated into or underpinning the four main STEM disciplines. We also use the “+” symbol to express our commitment to building a robust community for girls and women with a shared passion for sport and STEM.
How We Do It
Play Like a Girl leverages the transferable skills middle school girls gain from sport to give them a competitive edge in the classroom and, ultimately, propel them into competitive, male-dominated careers in STEM as young women.
Our programs connect girls with inspiring women role models and mentors, unveil the many pathways to a STEM career, and guide them toward leadership—ultimately, building girls’ confidence for a future in STEM.
