Event Manager

Play Like a Girl!® is a national nonprofit founded in 2004 to help girls reach their full potential and create an equal playing field for women by providing girls ages 9-13 an opportunity—and in many cases, their only chance—to participate in sport and physical activity.

As the Event Manager, you’ll be responsible for the excellent execution of special events to support Play Like a Girl, with a specific focus on producing experiences to attract and engage current and prospective donor supporters. You’ll produce many different types of events varying in size, objective, audience, location and budget. You’ll be responsible for ensuring every aspect of production is done with excellence, from sponsorship solicitation to audio and hors d’oeuvres.


What You’ll Do

  • You’ll work closely with the Strategic Partnerships team to set the annual calendar of events, pitch to potential partners and produce at least 5-7 community outreach, corporate engagement, donor cultivation and stewardship events to support revenue and engagement objectives.
  • You’ll project manage a fast-moving calendar of events holistically for the Strategic Partnerships team, planning and executing events sometimes simultaneously and with tight deadlines.
  • You’ll provide recommendations to the internal teams and external event partners for event format, size, and style.
  • You’ll present creative solutions and manage challenges in stride, as a team player, and will support presenters, including the CEO, with excellent A/V support onsite.
  • You’ll be responsible for all technical (such as A/V and lighting) and experiential (such as F&B, decor, photography and videography, flow, run of show and ambiance) areas of production for every Play Like a Girl-hosted event, including sports clinics and camps as well as fundraising and corporate partner events.
  • You’ll provide production assistance to our supporters when they host events in their businesses or homes for Play Like a Girl.
  • You’ll work closely with and, as needed, supervise a cross-functional team of volunteers and staff to produce the all events, supporting all areas of production and execution, representing the Strategic Partnerships team with your focus on creating an excellent experience for our major donors and the public.
  • You’ll travel regularly to oversee event logistics in the field.

  • At least 3 years of technical event production and management experience (or working towards a degree in marketing, communications or similar field if exceptional).
  • Experience working with clients and sales teams, creative teams, production companies and a variety of vendors.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Acute attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Positive, can-do attitude, creative problem solver and a team player with a solutions focused approach to problems.
