In the United States\, sports have powered efforts to bring citizens together\, shape them\, and project a vision of what it means to be American. But sports convey power to athletes too—power to break social barriers and protest injustice. All American explores the power of sports both to embody our national ideals and challenge us to live up to them.\nAll American is free and open to the public and is on display in the Lawrence F. O’Brien Gallery of the National Archives Museum in Washington\, DC\, through January 7\, 2024. This 3\,000-square-foot exhibit showcases more than 75 items including original records\, artifacts\, and photographs. Among other exclusives\, visitors can read the original Title IX policy document prohibiting sex discrimination in education (on limited display) and “meet” historic athletes who cleared roadblocks\, shattered stereotypes\, and paved the way for today’s titans! \nThe National Archives Museum is home to the Declaration of Independence\, Constitution\, and Bill of Rights. SUMMARY:Meet + Mentor: An Inside Look at Turner Construction
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an inside look at the Mid-State Medical Office Building construction site!\nThis month\, we’re teaming up with Turner Construction Company (Turner) to give middle school girls across Nashville an inside look at exciting career options in the construction industry. \nNow—more than ever—is a great time for girls and young women to consider a career in construction. If you are passionate about science\, technology\, engineering\, and mathematics (STEM)\, the construction industry would be a great fit for you. Much more than just boots-in-the-dirt\, hammers\, and nails\, the construction industry offers a variety of professions and opportunities. \nJoin us to learn the basics of construction management\, tour an active construction site\, and interact with talented women builders. \nThis is a drop-off event but parents must check in and out with their student(s) present. Check in begins at 9:45 a.m. Check out is promptly at 12:00 p.m. Closed-toe shoes and full-length pants are required. Turner will provide safety helmets\, glasses\, and vests. \nSnacks will be provided\, and the girls will leave with goodies to remember the experience. \nClick the share button below to invite your classmates\, friends and Girl Scout troop. \nSee you on Saturday\, March 11th! \n  \nAbout Meet + Mentor: An Inside Look\n\nInside Look is a monthly employer-sponsored mentoring event series that connects middle school girls with women professionals and male allies from Nashville’s top companies. With tech talks\, panel discussions\, hands-on projects and more\, the program is designed to grow participants’ interest in science\, technology\, engineering\, mathematics and related fields (STEM+) and help them learn more about careers at Nashville’s top companies\, preparing them for college and career. \nInside Look is an extension of our Meet + Mentor program committed to supporting diversity in Nashville’s workforce and the STEM+ industry as a whole through community-building\, speed mentoring and skills development activities. Each three-hour experience includes an exclusive employee-guided tour of the host company\, its laboratory\, plant and/or other facilities\, exposes students to a myriad of STEM+ and non-STEM+ careers at the company\, introduces what’s new in tech through a hands-on product demonstration or STEM+ activity\, and shares sage advice about high school courses\, internships and training programs\, college scholarships\, majors and other pertinent topics related to choosing a career pathway into the industry. \nIn addition\, the host company gets to highlight its social impact in the lives of Nashvillians and the world. This program intentionally elevates women who are natural role models and leaders in the community through partnership with Corporate Social Responsibility\, Employee Resource Groups and Diversity\, Equity & Inclusion initiatives already working in our community. \n\n\nNote: Play Like a Girl no longer offers free-to-register programs and events. Free events\, particularly during the COVID-19 era\, carry extremely high no-show risks\, thereby reducing our impact and risking our relationships with partners and sponsors who invest time\, talent and treasure to deliver high-quality programming for our girls.

SUMMARY:Women's Leadership Summit 2023
DESCRIPTION:About the Event\nJoin Play Like a Girl and Nashville SC for an exclusive Women’s History Month celebration and mentoring event specially designed to inspire the limitless potential in girls. \nHear from leading women as they share stories about their journey\, the obstacles they’ve overcome\, and the tools they’ve applied on their way to success. This candid\, but necessary conversation will focus on what’s needed to close the gender gap—on and off the field of play. \nTo sweeten your experience\, we will present the Play Like a Girl Honors Award to women and businesses who are pioneering the future and changing the face of leadership in Nashville.  \nThe celebration culminates with an hors d’oeuvre reception where middle school girls from Play Like a Girl programs will have an opportunity to connect with inspiring women role models in the room for a special mentoring moment.  \nFollowing the program\, immerse yourself in the dynamic world of Nashville SC with a once-in-a-lifetime guided tour of GEODIS Park.  \nAttire: Cocktail attire encouraged. Cocktail attire is a balance between business and smart casual and elegant and comfortable. For girls and women\, an above-the-knee hem is appropriate if dresses are your style. For men and anyone who prefers trousers\, a sports jacket and dress shirt is also nice. \n  \nNote: Nashville SC has sponsored this event for middle and high school girls and one adult parent\, guardian or chaperone. Includes access to two moderated conversations and a mentoring reception with hors d’oeuvres and beverages\, plus 2 tickets to the Nashville SC match on March 11th.
