Play Like a Girl delivers a multi-year program through which middle school girls experience practical lessons in leadership and engage in hands-on STEM+ education through the lens of a confidence-building curriculum.

5th grade girls take their first deep dive into STEM+ with us in our free summer camp. Students also participate in enrichment activities including sports clinics and fall and spring break camps to introduce new skills and build upon their summer camp experience.

During the school year, students meet monthly for STEM+ Saturday makerspace studios and Girls Who Code Club where they learn to see themselves as computer scientists. Club members build coding skills and community with peers and role models as they complete an impact project that solves a real-world problem. Desktop or laptop computers and reliable internet access are required. Free curriculum, meeting guides and tutorials, and Facilitator support are provided.

Applications open September 1, and will be accepted on a rolling basis until the class is fully enrolled. A parent or guardian is required to attend three mandatory milestone events: The Grownups Gathering, Kickoff Party & Spring Showcase. Students meet as a cohort from November 2021 through April 2022. Proof of vaccination, face masks and social distancing are required for all in-person sessions. Students must use a virtual background and have their video cameras turned on at all times when meeting via Zoom or other video conferencing platforms. No exceptions.
