The Play Like a Girl Board of Directors invites you to join us as we plan our signature fundraising events to continue our work aimed at inspiring limitless potential in girls. Events slated for 2021 include (dates subject to change):

  • Women’s Leadership Summit (Virtual) — March
  • Golf Tournament — June
  • Summer Benefit — August
  • #GirlsRockSTEM Summit — October
  • Holiday Huddle — December

Summary/objective 

Supports the planning and execution of Play Like a Girl events including structure, framework, and logistics associated with general planning and sponsorship solicitation.

Essential duties

Coordinate the work of the Event Organizing Committee in conjunction with staff and the event planner. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Undertake miscellaneous event production planning activities such as guest experience, logistics, marketing and public relations, operations, procurement and program.
  • Identify and solicit of auction donations and sponsorship commitments.
  • Solicit in-kind donations such as graphic design and photography services at discounted prices.
  • Help build guest list by providing the 10 or more people and/or companies believed to be a fit for attending or sponsoring the event.
  • Promote and spread the word of the event to your social circles, including their social media contacts, colleagues, friends, and family, to help create a buzz.
  • Attend committee meetings (twice monthly) during the year-round planning process to offer strategic advice and guidance.
  • Attend the event itself to take a lead in welcoming guests.
  • Be an ambassador for Play Like a Girl to excite and inspire guests.
  • Staff revenue-enhancing and VIP activity stations onsite at various events.

The Event Organizing Committee members are not responsible for high-level donor solicitation nor are they required to meet a pre-determined give/get fundraising goal.

Education and experience

Fundraising, event planning and/or interior design and decor experience is highly desirable. Some knowledge of Play Like a Girl programs and activities is also a plus. CPR/First Aid certified. Sexual Harassment, Mandated Reporter & Active Shooter Training required. Must pass FBI criminal background check.

Physical requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Time commitment

Attend Committee meetings (twice monthly); maintain regular communication via email, text and telephone with Play Like a Girl staff, Board members, Event Co-Chairs and Committee leads; and, attend and volunteer, as needed, at Play Like a Girl events, with understanding that volunteer availability may fluctuate throughout the planning period.

  • Listing of your name and/or company in the event invitations mailed to more than 2,500 individuals.
