Play Like a Girl AI Leadership Lab

The AI Leadership Lab is a free, virtual summer program where girls learn how artificial intelligence is shaping the world, explore how to use it responsibly, and design their own AI-powered solution to a real challenge facing girls in STEM. Over three sessions, girls work in small mentor-led teams to identify a problem they care about, build a solution concept, and present their idea live at a Showcase in front of a panel of judges. No coding experience required. No tech background needed. Just curiosity and a willingness to build something that matters.

What to Expect

Three Sessions, One Big Idea: Every week builds on the last — from AI foundations to responsible design to pitch day. Girls work with their team and two dedicated women mentors from day one through the Showcase.

Prizes Every Step of the Way: Girls earn recognition and prizes throughout the program for participation, creativity, and leadership — not just at the end. At the Showcase, top teams compete for cash prizes, a mentorship opportunity with a woman leader in tech, and a featured story on the Play Like a Girl platform. Every girl who completes the program receives a certificate of completion.

Mentors Who Look Like You: Every team is supported by two women mentors who show up for every session, every huddle, and every step of the process. This is not a one-time interaction. These are relationships built across the full program.

A Showcase Worth Showing Up For: On July 23, every team takes the stage to pitch their AI solution to a live panel of judges. This is the real thing: girls presenting ideas they built, in their own words, to people who are listening.

Program Details

Session 1 — Tuesday, July 7 at 4:00 PM CT

Session 3 — Tuesday, July 21 at 4:00 PM CT
Showcase Day — Thursday, July 24 at 4:00 PM CT

Open to girls entering 8th through 12th grade, nationwide. All sessions are virtual and completely free to attend.

Who Should Apply?

The AI Leadership Lab is for any girl who is curious about technology, cares about solving real problems, and is ready to work alongside other girls and women who take her ideas seriously. You do not need to know anything about AI to sign up. You just need to show up.
