Play Like a Girl is a Nashville-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to leveling the playing field for girls. Our mission is to provide young women with the tools, mentorship, and resources to succeed in competitive careers in male-dominated fields like science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). By leveraging skills gained through sport, we help girls build confidence, leadership skills, and teamwork to achieve their dreams.

For more than 20 years, Play Like a Girl has empowered thousands of girls nationwide. This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit administration, marketing, and event support.

Position Summary

The Operations Assistant Intern will support the day to day operations of Play Like a Girl while gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit administration, marketing, content creation, and event coordination. This role is ideal for a student or early career professional who is organized, creative, and excited to contribute to a mission driven organization.

This intern will work closely with our team to keep operations running smoothly while also supporting storytelling, visibility, and community engagement efforts. You will be trusted with real responsibilities, encouraged to bring ideas forward, and supported as you grow your professional skill set.

Responsibilities

Administrative and Operations Support

  • Provide general administrative and operations support to the Play Like a Girl team
  • Assist in maintaining organized digital infrastructure, including shared drives, SOP documentation, templates, and internal process guides
  • Help manage calendars, scheduling, and cross team coordination to ensure meetings, deadlines, and deliverables stay on track
  • Support basic project management efforts by updating task trackers, monitoring timelines, and flagging potential bottlenecks
  • Assist with data entry, database updates, and reporting related to program participation, partnerships, and outreach efforts
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows and suggest simple process enhancements that increase efficiency and clarity
  • Provide general operational support as organizational needs evolve, understanding that nonprofit environments require flexibility and collaboration

Marketing, Content, and Communications Support

  • Support the execution of marketing initiatives by organizing content calendars, tracking deliverables, and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Assist in drafting and repurposing content for social media, email campaigns, and digital communications under team guidance
  • Help capture and organize photos, videos, testimonials, and program highlights for future storytelling and reporting needs
  • Support the preparation of presentations, one pagers, and outreach materials for corporate partners, donors, and community stakeholders
  • Use AI tools to assist with drafting, editing, summarizing, and organizing content while maintaining brand voice and mission alignment
  • Assist with basic engagement tracking and reporting to help the team understand content performance and audience growth
  • Participate in content creation when appropriate, including appearing on camera for mission centered storytelling or event promotion

Event Support

  • Assist in planning and coordinating logistics for virtual and in person events, including workshops, fundraising events, corporate activations, and community programs
  • Support the development and maintenance of event timelines, run of show documents, and task trackers to ensure deadlines are met
  • Help manage registration lists, attendee communication, and confirmation emails using tools such as Google Workspace, event platforms, or CRM systems
  • Coordinate materials and assets, including slide decks, printed materials, signage, speaker bios, and digital resources
  • Support vendor communication and tracking, including catering, venue contacts, technology needs, and volunteer coordination when applicable
  • Prepare post event follow up materials, including thank you emails, surveys, recap documents, and impact reporting support
  • Assist with tracking event metrics such as attendance, engagement, and feedback to help inform future programming
  • Provide day of or live event support, including monitoring chat during virtual events, supporting check in for in person events, and troubleshooting basic logistical issues
  • Collaborate with the team to identify opportunities to improve systems and streamline future event planning processes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college, university, or relevant training program
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of AI applications such as ChatGPT or similar tools
  • Some experience or exposure to marketing, communications, content creation, or event support
  • Comfortable being on camera and participating in content creation when needed
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace or similar tools
  • Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and work independently

A passion for youth empowerment, sports, education, or STEM is strongly preferred.

Pay & Work Environment

  • Compensation: Paid internship with stipend.
  • Hours: Up to 10 hours per week.
  • Location: Fully remote.
  • Schedule: Flexible, coordinated with the team to meet administrative needs.
